Mike
Golden is beginning his fifth year as Head Coach
at Upper Arlington High School. Prior to his arrival
at Upper Arlington, Coach Golden spent one season at
New Albany High School and 14 years as Head Coach at
Bishop Watterson High School.
While
at New Albany, Coach Golden guided his team to the schools
first ever playoff appearance and finished the season
with a record of 11-2. He was also selected as the coach
of the year for both the Central District and the State
of Ohio for Division IV. Prior to last season, Coach
Golden had spent 22 years at Bishop Watterson, 8 as
an assistant coach and 14 as the head coach. While at
Watterson, Coach Golden compiled a record of 127 wins
43 losses with a record of 21-9 in the playoffs. In
addition, during his 14 years as head coach, his teams
reached the playoffs 10 times, participated in the State
Regional Championship 9 times - winning 4 regional titles,
were State Runner-up twice and won a Division III State
title is 2002. Through 20 years as a head coach, Mike
Golden has compiled an overall record of 172-57.
Mike
is a graduate of Whetstone high school and received
his Bachelor of Science in Education from the Ohio State
University. During his 22 years at Bishop Watterson,
Coach Golden taught World History, Sociology, and Psychology.
In addition, he was the Chair of the Social Studies
Department for 8 years, Co-Athletic Director for 3 years,
Registrar for 1 year and the Faculty Representative
to the School Board for 12 years. At Upper Arlington,
he will teach Sociology as well as being involved on
a day-to-day basis in the athletic department.

CIKACH: Junior Varsity Head Coach; Varsity

Coach
Cikach is a 1998 graduate of Upper Arlington High
School. He was a starter on the 12-1 state semifinal team
in 1997. Nate was also a four-year letter winner in track.
He went on to play cornerback at the University of Dayton.
This will be his fourth season with the JV team, who have
gone 25-2 the past three seasons. He is currently teaching
6th grade and coaches basketball and track at Olentangy
Liberty Middle School. In his spare time, Nate enjoys
watching 80's movies and winning. |

BOGGS: Freshmen Head Coach - 24th year |

Mike Boggs

Coach
Boggs is a 1973 graduate of UAHS where he was a two-year
starter in both football and baseball. He served as captain
of the 1972 team and received All-League, All-District,
and All-Ohio honors at linebacker. Mike attended Xavier
University. He lives in Upper Arlington with his wife
Maureen and their two daughters, Kelly and Anne. |

Coach
Archer is a 2006 graduate of Lakewood High School
in Hebron,OH. While at Lakewood, he earned five varsity
letters and was named all league in both football and
wrestling. Austin is currently studying Sports Management
in his senior year at The Ohio State University. In
his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and pick-up basketball.

Joel Cutler

Coach
Cutler has been with the Upper Arlington School
District since 1999. He started as a Health/Physical
Education Teacher at Hastings Middle School and currently
teaches Physical Education at Greensview Elementary.
Throughout his tenure in Upper Arlington, he has coached
both football and track. Coach Cutler is the Co-Head
Coach for the Varsity Track and Field Team at Upper
Arlington High School. He has been a part of seven UAHS
playoff appearances in football, including the State
Championship Team in 2000. Coach Cutler is a 1994 graduate
of Jonathan Alder HS, where he was named 1st team All
Ohio by the Associated Press. In 1998, he graduated
from the University of Dayton where he earned first
team honors as offensive center in the Pioneer Conference
as well as All American honors from the National Football
Gazette. He received his Masters degree from Mary Grove
College in Detroit Michigan. Joel and his lovely wife
Elaine reside in Upper Arlington.

Jim Dimitroff

Coach
Dimitroff begins his eleventh year in the Upper Arlington
City School district. He helped guide the Bears to the
2000 Div. I state title, coaching Mr. Football
Jeff Backes and All-Ohio players Simon Fraser and Tim
Schafer. Jim is a Springfield, Ohio native and played
his high school football at Springfield Catholic Central,
receiving All-City honors. He received his bachelors
degree from Wright State University and earned his masters
degree from the University of Dayton in Educational Adminstration.
He has coaching experience as the head coach at Springfield
North High School, along with being an assistant at Springfield
Catholic Central, Springfield South, Wittenberg University
and Springfield North. Coach Dimitroff was the boys and
girls track coach at Springfield Catholic Central for
three years, and the head boys track coach at Springfield
South High School for twelve years. Coach Dimitroff has
also coached basketball, baseball, and softball. Coach
Dimitroff has coached in the Miami Valley All-Star, and
Central District All-Star football games. He has also
coached summer camps at Ohio State, Michigan State, Northwestern
and Wittenberg Universities. Jim is currently a Special
Education Teacher at Upper Arlington High School. Jim
and his wife, Cindy, have three lovely children; Christina,
16 and twins, Dimitrious and Alexis, age 15. |

Ed Golden
|
Coach
Golden is a 1975 graduate of Bishop Watterson High
School. He has been coaching football for 15 years including
14 years at Bishop Watterson and one year at New Albany
High School. Ed was voted the Assistant Coach of the
Year by the Central Ohio Coaches Association. He and
his wife, Judy have three children: Jason, Sean, and
Lizzie.

Tony Peters

Coach
Peters graduated from Olentangy High School, where
he was an
All-League punter. He furthered his punting career at
Ohio State during the
1979-80 season. He is excited to return this year to coach
the Golden Bears
punters and kickers, having previously coached at UA during
the 1989-94 and
2002-03 seasons. After graduating from Capital University,
where he coached
the kicking game in 1995-97, he taught and coached at
Marion-Franklin High
School and Gahanna Lincoln High School, where he is currently
an
intervention specialist. He and his wife, Mary, reside
in UA with their two
children, Courtney (14) and Connor (12). |

Michael Schaefer

Coach
Schaefer is a 1996 graduate of Yorkville High School
(Yorkville, Illinois). While in high school he earned
seven varsity letters for the Fighting Foxes while participating
in 3 sports (Football, Basketball, Baseball). Michael
completed his bachelor's in education in 2000 and his
master's in administration in 2001 at the University of
Toledo. While in college, he earned four letters and won
three MAC West championships with the Toledo Rockets from
1996-2000. As a Senior he received ALL MAC (Mid American)
honors as an Offensive Lineman. He was also voted the
teams IRON MAN award winner, which is presented to the
hardest worker in the weight room. After college, he played
professionally for two seasons in the Arena Football League
2 for the Quad City Steamwheelers.
Before
joining the Upper Arlington family Michael was a varsity
assistant at Davenport North High School (Davenport,
Iowa). He has also coached baseball in the Upper Arlington
system for 6 years.
Michael
resides with his wife, Kirsten (Yarletts), daughter
Samantha (6 year old in 1st Grade at Tremont ), son
Bo (3 years old), and Emma Hazel (Born April, 2010)
in Upper Arlington. Michael is Co-Athletic Director
along with teaching Health, Wellness, Physical Education
and is also department chair of the Wellness department
at Upper Arlington High School.

Andrew Theado

Coach
Theado is a 1997 graduate of Bishop Watterson High
School. In 2001 he earned the degree of Bachelor of
Science in Biology from Wright State University, where
he played baseball. In 2003 he graduated from The Ohio
State University with a Master of Education in Science
Education; and in 2009 he graduated from Ashland University
with a Master of Education in Educational Administration.
Andrew is in his seventh year of education, having previously
taught in South-Western City Schools, Olentangy Local
Schools, and currently at Upper Arlington High School.
He is in his fifth year coaching football, having previously
coached at Franklin Heights High School in 2003 and
Upper Arlington High School from 2005-2007. Andrew and
his wife, Natalie, are proud parents of their one-year
old son, Drew.

Tom Trace

Coach
Trace is a graduate of Whitehall Yearling High School.
He earned his B.S. degree from Capital University, where
he played varsity defensive back, and his Master's Degree
from the University of Dayton. Coach Trace began coaching
football in 1991 and joined the Upper Arlington High
School staff in 1999. He lives in UA with his wife Sarah
and their six children: Amy, Betsy, Thomas, Julie, Katie
and Jack. Sarah teaches language arts and Coach Trace
teaches science at Jones Middle School.

Poston is a 1999 graduate of Upper Arlington High
School. He was a
starter on the 12-1 1998 state semifinal team. He went
on the play tight
end at California University of Pennsylvania and finished
his career at Ohio
Northern University playing offensive tackle.

RON

Ron
Walter, a 1970 graduate of Upper Arlington High
School, earned a bachelors degree from Mount Union
College and a masters degree from Bowling Green
University. Prior to returning to U.A.H.S., he worked
as an English teacher and athletic trainer for the Delaware
Schools. In 1980, he began his tenure as health teacher
and trainer for the Golden Bears. His honors include
the North-South All-Star Football Game, the Central
District All-Star Game, the North South All-Star Basketball
Game (seventeen times), and the District 10 and 11 All-Star
Games. In 1987, Ron was named the OATA High School Trainer
of the Year and was elected to the OATA Hall of Fame
in 1993. He is a member of the NATA and OATA Great Lakes
and licensed by the State of Ohio. He was the trainer
for the North-South All-Star Lacrosse Game. In July,
2002, Ron was the trainer for Team Korea for the World
Lacrosse Games in Perth, Australia.

Stephanie is a graduate of Buckeye Valley High School
in Delaware, OH and she recently earned a bachelor's
degree from the Ohio State University. She is licensed
by the State of Ohio and is a member of the National
Athletic Trainer's Association, the Ohio Athletic Trainer's
Association and the Great Lakes Athletic Trainer's Association.
Stephanie also works with OhioHealth and the Victorian
Village Health Center in Columbus, OH. She also plans
to begin working on her Master's degree in the fall
at Ohio State.

EVANS: The Voice of the Golden Bears - 23rd year

Jim
has been a member of the UA Football program since 1980,
becoming the Voice of the Bears in 2005. In 1993 Jim began
his announcing career with a UA boy's lacrosse game since
then he has become the Voice for eight Sports at Upper
Arlington High School and nine sports at The Ohio State
University. Each year, Jim announces over 100 + sporting
events. Considered one of the best announcers in the State
of Ohio, his accomplishments include announcing OHSAA
and OHSLA state championship games, state and national
all-star games, Big Ten Conference and NCAA tournament
games, and in Ohio Stadium in front of over 65,000 fans.
Each
year Jim is honored to continue the tradition and as
the "Voice of the Bears" but it is the entire
staff that deserves the credit and Jim feels privileged
to work with and thanks each of them for all of their
hard work and commitment; Spotters Brian McLain and
Dave Dewey, along with Dan Ludlum and Jim Blosser
Jim
is a 1983 graduate of Upper Arlington High School. He
received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Telecommunications
in 1987 from Ohio University. Honored with the Outstanding
Senior Leader Award from his alma mater, he was also
recognized as an Outstanding Young Man of America in
1987.
Jim's
"THUMBS UP" sign off originated several years
ago as a memorial, now it's his Trademark signoff. ~

COLEMAN : Director of Strength

Brian Coleman

Coach
Brian Coleman began working at UA in 2007 where
he is in charge of all facets of athletic development
for each of the 32 varsity and club sports. Last August
Brian helped lead the project to renovate the fitness
center into one of the best high school training facilities
in Ohio. "Golden Bear Ironworks" was given
the distinct honor of being named an official "Hammer
Strength Training Center".
Before
coming to UA, Brian was a teacher and coach at Macedonia
Nordonia High School. While working as Head Strength
Coach and Assistant Football, Wrestling, and Track coach
he helped develop many successful college and pro athletes.
In addition, he was a key part in the Nordonia Knight
Football teams 6 year playoff run, 2006 Final Four Appearance
and 2002 State Runners up.
Brian
was a 2000 graduate of Syracuse University. As a three
year football letterman and two year starter, Brian
was a part of three Big East Championships, two BCS
bowl bids, and played in the Gator, Liberty, Fiesta,
and Orange Bowls. In addition, he was named to the All
Big East team as a defensive lineman his senior year.
Brian was born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. In
addition to earning all state honors in football, wrestling,
and track as a Black Tiger, Bigger Faster Stronger
magazine named him "The Nation's Strongest
High School Football Player."

Tobey McBride
|
Coach
Tobey McBride is a 2006 graduate from Ohio University.
She majored in Physical Education with a minor in Coaching.
Through college Tobey was very active at Ohio University
in multiple fitness departments from the weight room
to teaching various fitness classes, to pool workouts
for athletes. During college in 2002 Tobey took an Internship
at Thomas Worthington High School as Assistant Strength
Coach. She assisted in the training of various sports
teams that came through the facility daily. She worked
intensely with football, girls and boys basketball,
baseball and softball. She was part of the Thomas Worthington
family till 2005.
Prior
to graduation, Tobey collaborated with a local physical
education teacher to open a facility specializing in
the training and education of fitness for youth. After
graduation in 2006, Zones 4 Youth Center opened and
Tobey was Director of Fitness Operations and Head Trainer.
She worked with local pediatricians and PE teachers
in the education of youth fitness and childhood obesity.
This center changed many lives for youth around the
Columbus area.
Since
2007, Tobey has worked in various areas of fitness from
Cross-fit, cycling to personal training. She has multiple
certifications in many fitness areas. She is currently
a full time personal trainer at Core Fitness Studios
working with people of all ages and abilities. She still
works with many of the youth and their families. She
specializes in sport specific training which has allowed
her to have the opportunity to train many professional
athletes.
